ENVIRONMENTAL PERMITS

DOE (Department of Energy) NEPA-Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)

As part of the DOE Loan Process, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) must be followed, which requires DOE to conduct a 3rd party independent review that considers the environmental effects of PHI's proposed project, the Mid-Atlantic Power Pathway. Analysis and documentation prepared to comply with NEPA. This will include the development of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).  For more information on the MAPP Project EIS.

Maryland and Delaware Environmental Permit Applications

Delmarva Power and Pepco submitted environmental permit applications to the US Department of Energy (DOE), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), State of Maryland Department of Environment (MDE), and the State of Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) for the Chalk to Indian River component of the MAPP project.  The submission includes the Company's Environmental Review Document (ERD), containing over 10,000 pages of material. Within the ERD is project information, alternatives, the results of several years worth of field studies and anticipated environmental impacts.

This submission begins the formal application review process.  The first step of the process is for the agencies to review the applications and all associated materials. Once the agencies' review is complete, the public will have an opportunity to provide formal comments through public meetings held by the agencies.

The Environmental Review Documents (ERDs) that support the state and federal permit applications are available electronically within the Maryland Public Service Commission filing for Case No. 9179, which can be viewed via the internet. See item 180 for the ERD documents.

Copies are also available for inspection at the Delmarva Power Bay Regional Office.
